Anwar Al-Qattan’s artistic journey in paintings

painting

Edvard Munch inspires us with his famous painting “The Scream”, a scream that transcended the boundaries of time and space to embody a universal feeling of loneliness and terror. Despite its apparent simplicity, “The Scream” represents an irresistible masterpiece that raises questions and stimulates contemplation. The feeling of loneliness and terror that grips the viewer from the first moment is enough to make it one of the masterpieces of world paintings.

I am Anwar Al-Qattan, a painter and teacher specializing in teaching drawing, with a bachelor’s degree in art education. I firmly believe in the ability of art to overcome linguistic and cultural barriers and develop societies. Therefore, my experience of more than two decades was sufficient to prove my passion for conveying the beauty of art to the hearts of children and people with special needs.

Since my artistic beginnings, I have found in art the only means to convey what is going on inside me. The brush has always been my voice, which reflects the extent of my connection to societal issues and my ability to express my inner self. I painted this painting to express the suffering of struggling women in human societies. The painting embodies, with its expressive symbols, the strength of a sacrificial mother for the sake of her family and children. Through the shading technique, I sought to embody the depth of pain that a strong woman hides, The varying degrees of shading reflect her internal struggle, between fatigue and hope. In addition, the palm that rises from the ground represents a symbol of sacrifice and unlimited giving. A woman’s sacrifice is like a tree rooted in the earth, extending its branches with love and care, thus completing the expression of a woman’s strength and emotional energy.

Infinity.

In short, I did not just draw a woman, but I painted a symbol of a strong, struggling female painting

The painting “Spiritual Emancipation”

complements the message of the previous painting in a different way, as it embodies an inner spiritual journey towards liberation and peace after the stage of suffering and internal conflict. The body appears as if it contains a wound that does not heal, expressing the deep feeling of pain and emphasizing the fragility of human feelings. Despite the meditative body posture that shows self-acceptance and peace after a period of struggle, the colors of the painting are visible behind the palpation (A combination of blue, green and red) reflects the complexities of the soul and its struggle towards inner peace. The release of the white dove from the depths of this body also illustrates the feeling of longing for inner tranquility and reaching a state of spiritual liberation. Through this painting, I sought to express the journey of hope for healing and the human ability to overcome suffering.
